Okay all you devoted skiers, let's hear a "Big Hooah." After more than eight years of inactivity, Beaver, Utah’s ski resort celebrated its 2010-2011 opening and is now getting ready for the upcoming season. The former Elk Meadows ski area is under new ownership and management and is called Eagle Point. If you have never skied the area, you are in for a treat. The Tushar Mountain Range is truly spectacular, laying claim to some of the highest peaks within the state. Several of the more challenging runs lie on the south-facing slope of Mount Holly. The peak rises to an elevation of 11,981 feet. Watch a Promotional Video of Eagle Point by clicking on the photo of the skier and snowboarder on the right side of the page. The new Eagle Point Ski Resort is an affordable winter sports destination for the entire family. Its 40 trails are a mix of beginner, intermediate, and expert terrain, with a half-pipe and significant backcountry opportunities, all benefiting from an average snowfall of 400 inches per year. Eagle Point represents a great winter sports destination option for people living in the areas of Las Vegas and southern California. From the Los Angles basin to Las Vegas, the distance is approximately 250 miles, and from Las Vegas, to Beaver, Utah it is 227 miles north on the I-15 freeway. The resort also expects to draw skiers from Arizona, in particular the northern region. Upon arriving in Beaver City, it is a beautiful 18-mile drive east up Beaver Canyon.
